Vanessa is a London-based photographer with a body of work across portraiture, travel and food. She is commissioned both commercially and privately, working in London and internationally. Born and raised in Boston, MA (USA) the middle of 5 children, she was encouraged by her father to take up photography from an early age. Vanessa went on to study Classical Archaeology at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, where she combined her academic interests with photography in a thesis paper analyzing the visual impacts of social stratification within ancient Roman amphitheatres. Vanessa continued to learn her craft and develop her style while assisting commercial photographers in New York before accepting her own commissions.

Vanessa's personal work focuses on intimate portraiture with a strong narrative, exploring family, nostalgia and the passage of time. She also creates thoughtful landscapes from her travels - using the slow, methodical process of medium format film - that strive to evoke the soul of the place, whether it is a coastal playground in a quiet corner of New Zealand or the murky waters of Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia.
